Beverley Shungu, CEO and founder of Beverley’s Ginger Beverages, was born in Tobago, an island paradise where ginger beer is an integral of the culture. She fondly remembers the ginger drinks prepared by her own mother and aunts.

Beverley became a British-educated psychiatric nurse with strong emphasis on gero psyche and women’s health, including expertise in treatment of diabetes and Alzheimers disease. She worked in the health care field for many years.

As an advocate of good nutrition, Beverley grew concerned about the epidemic of obesity and of diabetes in America, partially caused by sugar-laden drinks and fast foods on the market. She began work to produce a healthy alternative to sugar-filled sodas and juices which flood American consumers.

In 2004, Beverley created an exciting and delicious ginger beverage. She uses only the best agave nectar in her drink. Her research and efforts have paid off handsomely, and much to our benefit.

To her surprise and delight, this beverage was a big favorite with everyone who drank it.

In 2004, Beverley created an exciting and delicious ginger beverage after retiring from San Quentin State Prison due to a work-related injury. Forced to reinvent her life at the age of 50, this drink was created as a healthy alternative to sugar laden softdrinks and energy drinks currently on the market. Due to the current health crisis in America and the processed food lifestyle, she felt compelled to create a healthy alternative as a healthcare advocate who has personally struggled with weight problems and a family history of diabetes and hyperetension.
